Awesome Australian postcard from the awesome Tiffany. This card is definitely on my top 3 list of “Postcards that made me smile like an idiot”. Tiffany has used the most adorable aussie stamps and below my address she has written “Thank you Postman”, which in my opinion is just so incredibly sweet! 😀

The postcard pictures the 2 symbols of Sydney – the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of Australia’s most well known and photographed landmarks. It is the world’s largest (but not the longest) steel arch bridge with the top of the bridge standing 134 metres above the harbour. Fondly known by the locals as the ‘Coathanger’, the Sydney Harbour Bridge celebrated its 80th birthday in 2012, with its official opening in March 1932.

Sydney Opera House was inscribed in the World Heritage List in June 2007. The expert evaluation report to the World Heritage Committee stated: “…it stands by itself as one of the indisputable masterpieces of human creativity, not only in the 20th century but in the history of humankind.” Contrary to its name, it houses multiple performance venues. It is among the busiest performing arts centres in the world, hosting over 1,500 performances each year attended by some 1.2 million people.
