Montgomery, Alabama

This card came as a surprise from Carey. It pictures the Alabama state capitol and a small Alabama map. As I’ve already mentioned, I’m a sucker for the Southern states (and the accent… oh, I love the southern accent :D), so this card makes a great addition to my collection. 🙂

Montgomery is the capital of the State of Alabama, and is the county seat of Montgomery County. It is located on the Alabama River southeast of the center of the state, in the Gulf Coastal Plain. It is the second-largest city in Alabama, after Birmingham. Montgomery briefly held the title of capital of the Confederacy and was also the site of Jefferson Davis’ inauguration. Montgomery was also a pivotal location during the civil rights movement, seeing the arrest of Rosa Parks and the ensuing bus boycott, as well as numerous non violent protests led by Dr. Martin Luther King.
