The Cornhusker State

This mapcard comes from Ginny. 🙂

Nebraska is a state on the Great Plains of the Midwestern United States. Its state capital is Lincoln. Its largest city is Omaha, which is on the Missouri River. The state is crossed by many historic trails, but it was the California Gold Rush that first brought large numbers of non-indigenous settlers to the area. Nebraska became a state in 1867. Nebraska gets its name from the archaic Otoe words Ñí Brásge, or the Omaha Ní Btháska, meaning “flat water”, after the Platte River that flows through the state.

    • Oh, yes, I love them too! 🙂 Once I finish my country collection (or once I reach a dead end with my country collection, which is more likely :D) I’ll start collecting map cards like this one. 🙂
