This card came from Christelle who lives in Sao Paulo. More pictures of the statue you could see here – and what a pictures they are! The view towards the city is definitely something I’d want to see some day. 🙂

The Christ the Redeemer Statue is located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is one of the world’s best known and most visited monuments. The statue represents Jesus standing over the city of Rio, with arms outstretched, welcoming people from near and far. The entire monument of Christ the Redeemer measures 38 meters high, with the statue accounting for 30 meters of this. The span of his arms from fingertip to fingertip is 28 meters. A small chapel is housed in the base of the monument, which can fit about 150 people. The original design of statue of Christ the Redeemer Brazil was created by a Brazilian, named Heitor da Silva Costa. He was also the engineer in charge of the construction. He shared the project with French sculptor Paul Landowski. The statue was constructed from 1926 to 1931, with funds raised from donations.

I received this card via Postcrossing. It came from Larissa and it was my first postcard from Brazil.

It pictures a fort  (yes, this round thing is a fort 😀 ) and a beach in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, and that’s about all the information I have on this card. I couldn’t find any useful information in English, so if anyone could share something, I’d appreciate it if you could leave a comment. 🙂
